The Florence Apartments is a 109 unit transit oriented development designed to help revitalize the Florence area of unincorporated Los Angeles County. Located adjacent to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority’s Blue Line, the Florence Apartments represents AMCAL’s most ambitious foray into special needs housing to date. The development includes 54 apartments designated for tenants with special needs. In addition, it is AMCAL’s second development financed in part with Affordable Housing Sustainable Community (AHSC) funds, which are designed to leverage housing developments near high quality transit to reduce greenhouse gasses by pairing them with sustainable transit oriented infrastructure such as bicycle paths and improved pedestrian access.
The contemporary-style, 4-story development includes a 1,995 SF Workforce Development Center on the ground floor which is run by the County of Los Angeles and is available for use not only by the development’s tenants, but also acts as a vital resource for the surrounding neighborhood. Pedestrian improvements include the funding of a walking trail in a nearby park which can be accessed from the development and connects to a senior center.
The project is being built to certified LEED Gold standards.
